In February 2023, BCS accompanied the FIND organization on a trip to Indonesia to assist in efforts to expand access to essential diagnostics in the country.
The FIND organization was launched in 2003 at the World Health Assembly in Geneva Switzerland to support the health of people in low and middle income countries (LMICs) through the introduction of new, affordable rapid diagnostics for infectious disease.
BCS consultant Michael Todd, who has extensive medical manufacturing experience throughout Asia including in China and Thailand, joined FIND in a whirlwind tour visiting multiple facilities. Michael is also currently engaged with Orasure Technologies, a US based provider of COVID-19 rapid tests. Michael works as the operations and manufacturing conduit between Orasure’s headquarters in Pennsylvania and several contract manufacturers in Thailand assembling Orasure’s diagnostics tests in ISO 13485 clean room environments.
FIND needed BCS’ medical manufacturing expertise to assist in their collaboration with the Indonesian government to expand access to essential diagnostics.
Mark Bonifacio, President of BCS, commented “FIND reached out to me when I was working with the NIH/RADx program to expand COVID-19 tests in the United States. We’ve attempted to assist FIND and support their mission whenever we could over the last few years. I am pleased that the timing lined up so that BCS’s Michael Todd was available to help FIND in their critical work in expanding diagnostic testing to underserved populations. We look forward to continuing our work with FIND, NIH, WHO and other governmental and NGO organizations in support of their medical manufacturing and operational initiatives in the future.”
