About Wendel & CSP Technologies
Wendel Group is one of Europe’s leading investment firms based in Paris with offices around the world. Wendel has invested in and played an active role in the success of well-known companies such as Saint Gobain, Capgemini, BioMerieux, Reynolds, Valeo and others. In 2014, Wendel opened its first U.S. office in New York City.
CSP Technologies is a global provider of custom polymeric solutions and specialty protective packaging based in Auburn, Alabama.
Wendel’s New York office was evaluating the acquisition of CSP Technologies and needed guidance on CSP’s manufacturing/operations and an industry and market analysis.
How Did BCS Help?
BCS was engaged as the industry expert and provided an assessment of CSP’s manufacturing operations. We also assessed CSP’s sales pipeline for margin and growth potential. BCS performed on-site visits, analyzed all manufacturing/operations documents, attended management presentations and interviewed key CSP management.
After the acquisition, BCS was hired by the CEO to lead a strategic planning effort on how to grow CSP organically through entry into new market segments. BCS collaborated with CSP business development executives to research, identify and strategize how to target the most promising segments.
BCS also later worked with the Wendel team to identify buy-side opportunities.
Wendel successfully acquired CSP Technologies for ~$360MM and less than 4 years later sold CSP for ~$550MM to Aptar.
